HaLS Newsletter #2
Dear HaLS Community,
We hope everyone’s semester is going well! HaLS has a few exciting events coming up that we’re looking forward to sharing with you, as well as a quick recap of our last lunch event.
Upcoming events
Plaintiffs’ Law Association x HaLS
October 16 in room 132
Interested in learning how lawyers can play a role in advancing public health?
Join us this Thursday to hear from practitioners working in elder abuse, mass torts, and environmental law as they discuss how their work helps protect the health and wellbeing of vulnerable communities and populations. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect and explore the intersection of plaintiff-side advocacy and health law! Please RSVP here.
Ketamine, MDMA, and Psilocybin: How Psychedelics are Moving Towards FDA Approval
November 5 in room 170
Psychedelic therapies are inching from prohibition toward mainstream care, but access turns on three gates: FDA approval, DEA rescheduling, and insurance reimbursement. This talk, hosted by the new Life Sciences Law & Policy Center Director Vincent Joraelmon, will trace how those gates actually open, using ketamine, MDMA, and psilocybin as case studies. No prior knowledge (or experience) necessary—we’ll provide all of the background you need. Please RSVP here.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended our recent event with Professor Ashe! She has graciously offered to continue the conversation — if you have any lingering questions or would like to discuss anything further, feel free to reach out to her directly.
We’ve attached her presentation slides for anyone who’d like to revisit the material.
We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events. Thanks for reading!
Best,
